NeighborSocial – Unclaimed Benefits Check
A free community service for Eersterust residents
Many residents worked at companies years ago and contributed to a pension or provident fund. When people change jobs, lose paperwork, or a company changes its name, that money often sits unclaimed — waiting for its rightful owner.
This service helps you find out if any of that money belongs to you.
Who this service helps
This service exists for residents who face barriers such as:
- No reliable internet access or data
- Difficulty with official forms, letters and emails
- Not knowing where to start, or who to contact
- No time or transport to run between offices
Space is limited, so priority is given to residents who have the least access to resources.
How it works
Step 1 – You submit your details (this form)
Fill in the form on this page. Your information is kept private and secure, and is used only for this purpose — nothing else.
Step 2 – We check for you (free of charge)
We carry out the check on your behalf and inform you of the result:
- Nothing found → we let you know, and that is the end of it. No cost, no obligation.
- A benefit was found → we provide you with the full details: which fund, which administrator, and what you need to do next.
The check and the results are always free — as they should be.
Step 3 – You choose how to proceed
If a benefit was found, you have two options:
Option A – Claim it yourself (free)
We give you the details and you claim directly from the fund administrator, in your own name, into your own bank account. You remain responsible for the process, and we step aside. If you feel the service helped you and you’d like to say thank you with a small donation — anything from R10 upwards — it is received with gratitude. If not, that is completely fine.
Option B – We facilitate the claim (R150 once-off)
If you’d rather have the process handled for you, we facilitate the full claim on your instruction: drafting letters and emails, preparing your document pack, and following up — with you copied on all correspondence. You remain in charge and accountable for the claim at all times — you sign every form, you make every final decision, and the money is paid directly by the fund into your own bank account, never through us. Payment of the R150 fee is arranged only once your claim pack is ready to submit.
Important things to know
- Your money never passes through us. Ever.
- You sign everything yourself. We prepare; you authorise.
- You are copied on every email and letter we send on your behalf.
- You may stop using the service at any point, with nothing owed.
- Never sign — with us or anyone else — any document that transfers your benefit or claim to another person or company.
How you know this is legitimate:
- We show you the results first, free — scammers ask for money before you know whether anything exists.
- We never ask for your banking PIN, card details, or any password.
- We never ask you to sign a form that assigns your claim to us or anyone else.
- You can ask questions at any point, and you are copied on everything we send.
